Re: Pixmax cap press

Post by FutureProject »

I recently got a pixmax cap press as I wanted to do a couple of caps and as I had a Result brand sample pack of caps from ralawise I gave it a go but can't get it right.

There's no spring clip to hold the cap tight so getting it placed right is difficult and whatever I do I can't seem to get a good press as the caps all crease up under the press and result in a wasted cap.

has anyone else got this press? and if so any tips?

I'm going to try other cap brands (probably beachfield next) to see if there's a sweet combo which compliments the press but I worry as although all the hats I've tried are the same brand they were all different styles (polyester / cotton / 5 panel / 6 panel) and always the same problems.

its probably got more to do with the size of the Lower platen I don't have a Pixmax. Mines is a Stahl basic but I was having similar problems and that's seems to be the correct fix Don't know if you can buy other platens for your model though. You could try getting some thick pieces of rubber and see if that would help.

I have the same problem with my old cap press. The bottom platen was not round enough for the caps. My solution was to tape an old folded up t-shirt onto the platten to raise up the curvature in the middle so now it is the same shape as the cap.

should have tried that already since all my flat presses have t-shirts on their bases as I can't be bothered messing with pillows for seams and collars.
