Hi all

New to 3D sublimation printing.

We got our machine a few days ago, it keeps tripping the RCD and we can't run it all. We have tried several sockets, including one for the oven as suggested by someone. I've been trawling through here and can't find any thread with people having the same problem, however, on another forum it has been mentioned that something to do with the wiring of the Chinese machines isn't compatible with our British wiring.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did you rectify it? If so, how? A suggestion has been made to get a new cable but we can't find anywhere to get them from.

Thanks

I don't have one of these machines but I have read on here somewhere something along the lines of "there is a wire that gets cut or snaps around the hinges"
Many thanks
Iain

Equipment used A4 Ricoh printer, HP3085 Heat Press Graphtec cutter, Jarin mug press, CJV 30-60 solvent printer and lots of help from DSF.

My st3042 just blew with a spark and pang today when I opened the lid to remove a puck! It seems to have tripped the whole circuit. Before this incident it hasn't caused any electrical trouble in the two buildings i've used it in. Sounds like it might be the dodgy wire in the lid as it happened when I opened the lid. Not sure it can be fixed, only had it less than a year :( Or rather it probably can be fixed but not by me...

You have the European version of the machine and not the American right? It comes in both a 220v and 110v version I believe. You probably have the right version but though I mention it just in case...

Just to say I found the thread discussing the potential issues with the wires in the lid of the st3042:

Thank you very much. I really don't think it's a lid issue, as it happens when the oven is two or three mins into cycle.
However it's literally now tripping as soon as I plug it into the wall, with the switch off at the machine. I bought it off a guy on eBay and he is telling me it works fine if I remove the RCD from my home!

I don't think this is safe

Did you get your machine fixed or your money back?

Bad news about mine, I've sent it in for repair but they say it will be too expensive for them to fix it. The main wire in the lid is broken and they would have to take apart the whole machine which they say would take a lot of time, hence the high repair cost, almost as expensive as getting a new machine.

They also believe it's a copy not the original???? When buying this off aliexpress last year it never crossed my mind there could be copies as it's such a niche product!

It takes an hour at the most!

Do you have experience in fixing these machines, if so would you be willing to repair it for me? It's currently with another UK supplier, I could ask them to ship it to you instead of back to me.

The guys on aliexpress I bought the machine from have actually been very helpful and offered to send me the spare parts that needs replacing, but they need to see a video/photos of the problem.

We could attempt to fix the machine ourselves but it would of course be a lot easier to send it to someone with experience in how to do it.

Mine melted the euro adapter they supplied with it as the adapter was only rated to 3A and the machine pulls 10A. It melted the adapter to the socket!
Do you have it on a high enough RCD?
