Re: Which A3 Pigment printer should I get

Post by GoldRapt »

Hi all,
It's not often I post these days, preferring to lurk and learn.
I want to move into wider printing using pigment inks (Durabrite), I have considered a wide format printer but I have to look at limits of space available to me. There fore I think I would be best suited with an A3 printer. boasting wifi/ethernet/usb connections.

I want to use it to print pigment inks and as far as I am aware Durabrite is the best of the pigments inks, my belief is based on my understanding that there is an fading issue with Ultrachrome black.

Can anyone suggest which would be the right printer to look at please, Is Epson the best route to take etc etc.

Hope someone can give me the benefit of their advice and experience.

Regards
Tony

I had an A4 Canon Pixma (until I damaged the paper feed!) Print quality was superb and build quality better than any Epson. I used cheap compatable carts that lasted ages and worked a treat. Must buy another printer!!

I didn't think canon did pigment printers. I have an ix6550 and it's only one of the blacks that's a pigment ink.

Superb printer!

I had my eye on an Epson Stylus Photo R3000 with Inktec pigment inks, but since that particular business idea is on hold I didn't pull the trigger. Worth looking at though if it helps narrow down your choices.
