Cooling Mugs

I can understand dunking in cold water causing cracking, I put mine in front of a fan, by the time the next mug is printed the first is cool enough to handle easily.

I've found natural cooling (removing paper immediately from the press and placing somewhere to cool) allows additional gassing so I was getting blurred edges and a *motion blur* effect as the ink was carried with the heat up the mug, so now I dunk which stops the sublimation process instantly giving much crisper lines.

Touch wood I've have had very few failures since I started dunking

The additional gassing is very noticeable when printing simple black lettering for example. Reducing time by at least 15s and temperature corrects this or change your mug coating, no need for messy dunking.

So a question for Dunkers, Fanners And Naturelies. :rolleyes: Do leave the transfer paper on till cold or remove it straight away.

I have been removing mine straight away.

to naturally cool, take it off straight away, if it moves when you put it down to cool it'll create ghosting

when dunking, dunk with the paper on, no need to burn your fingers

These are the Argos mug trolleys. They dip in the middle under the weight of the mugs, but I tape them up.
