Re: Posting new Zippo Lighter Help needed

Posted a zippo and the customer asked where it was, went on to check the track number and found it was being returned as they had classed it suspected dangerous goods. Just had a read as you can now only send new lighters and not used, ours was new, its a birthday gift and I need to find another way of sending, can anyone recommend anyone apart from Royal Mail.

was there fuel in it or had it ever had fuel in? if so you can't send it, if it's not had fuel in maybe add a cn22 (customs label) with the description of "New Lighter Without Fuel)" on it.

clearly mark the outside with "contents: new lighter without fuel" you're breaking no rules so assuming a little common sense from royal mail (I know not a small ask) it should arrive as planned

Have read quite a bit on this and find that its a hit and miss affair, so finding alternative way to get it to the customer is my only option. The Royal mail destroys them and I can't afford to losing lighter on how various Royal Mail are open to the interpretations of what they think

i can remember posting this same question a while ago, i had a long chat with our post office, and he said that marking the outside of the parcel with a printed label from us saying that it contained a brand new, custom engraved/printed unused, unopened lighter still in its original packaging was the answer - the downside being it also alerted some of the less trustworthy RM staff of the contents and may therefore lead to items going missing so he suggested using a fully tracked service, - makes them very expensive to send.

you could seal them in appropriate sized blister packs with printed inserts showing them as a brand new retail product?

Just a update and a thank for your replies but the customer just phone she received it, she said she think she got it by mistake by RM as they put her address as the return address, stress levels a lot lower now but still have to find a courier to send lighters to, any recommendation for couriers
