Always at the mercy of the printer drivers I guess. Converting the image to the desired profile and using Epson, sublino a ink and versa paper works ok

Mint 20.3 using official Epson drivers and the GIMP 2.10.18. Plenty of paper used while testing but few minor tweaks to exposure and curves and can get a pretty close print out and burn. Pros might take a look and disagree
