I'm looking at getting an A3 laser printer for printing onto vinyl and transfer paper. I also get enquires about small run posters and leaflets so I was wondering if the printer below would fit the bill. Bit of a big old beast but if it does the job I may buy it.

Found a reconditioned one for sale for an affordable price. Anyone advise if this would print Vinyl and trim free transfer paper?

As you say it's an older printer, they use fuser oil which may affect what media you can use with it.

Most laser transfer suppliers (TMT, TARGET etc.) will supply you with a list of supported printers. This is not a definitive list but it is certainly a good start.

I would recommend you contact whoever you are thinking of purchasing your materials from and ask them about the printer. As its a FUSER OIL then you will be limited on your suppliers.

Have you contacted any of the material suppliers as they sometimes have reconditioned printers up for grabs?

No I haven't but good suggestion I will get on to them today. Having heard good and bad about all the different weed free transfers it would be nice to find a printer that will work with all of them so I'm not stuck with one supplier. Talking of suppliers has anyone here used the weed free transfer paper from Merlins? Half the price of most of the others.

Can you print onto vinyl using a laser printer? I didn't think you could do that? thought it had to be a solvent printer so like the print and cut machines?

Ah yes, I think you may be right. Not too important for tbh, as long as I can do the odd full colour or photo Tee when requested.
