Post by Ucase Ltd »

Well folks,

It's been a long road (almost a year), but I finally launch my 3D phone case business on Monday 15th September and wanted to share the news with someone.

Obviously It shouldn't have taken this long but (Long-story-short) I got screwed by my first web developer.

The "Case-Designer" on my website (as artygamer is aware) is not 100% how I wanted it, it could be better - BUT it is functional and I think usable for the average customer.
I've run out of time and cash to make any further improvements right now but hope to rectify this later on.

I'm still working on the "shop" section and adding cases but the Custom Case section is as complete as it's going to get for a while.

Please feel free to take a look and give me your 2 cents worth.

Cheers,
John.

Hi

Firstly well done on the launch I know how hard it can be getting everything right i'm still not 100% there

Just a few notes

1. full size banner on homepage have buttons etc cut off along bottom
2. trying to resize an image using the "case designer" but it has a limit to how small I can go so the image I upload would not fit the case, maybe best to change this so people can shrink the image to however small they want
3. I can't seem to be able to move the text where I want it on the case, it just puts it on top left of case.
4. The help video is not working
5. Get a message saying "internet explorer blocked content with security certificate errors".
6. Product names are wrong on some cases EG. "Samsung4" instead of "Samsung S4".
7. There is no telephone number clearly displayed or on the contact us page, also an address is required by law
8. when you click the Facebook link on the bottom of the page it opens in same window, this would be best to open in new window so that the customer still has your website open

Sorry if i'm being picky just these are some of the thing I would change.

I didn't find that happening

same picture wouldn't go small enough.

moving text was easy enough, rotating with the + - under the pic of the case could have been clearer as you would have assumed they were zoom in and out buttons. It would have been better to have the text rotate with the same slider as pictures use.

same, personally I wouldn't use youtube for it I would just host it on the site.

didn't get that.

Mattie / Galerion,

Thanks very much for taking the time to look.
Some of the points you both made I am aware of and can't really do anything about at this stage. Others I wasn't aware of and a big thanks for pointing them out...

1. full size banner on homepage have buttons etc cut off along bottom
I've not been able to find this - The only thing I can think of is the 3 images below the banner - If that is what you mean? it is kind of deliberate so users know there is more if they scroll down.
2. trying to resize an image using the "case designer" but it has a limit to how small I can go so the image I upload would not fit the case, maybe best to change this so people can shrink the image to however small they want

YES - Absolutely right. This is the biggest problem I have. Unfortunately when the zoom ability is reduced further it throws up loads of issues like image jumping around or dissapearing when you move them.

The only fix for this is to re-build the UI with a different/better JS - (This is one thing previous developer screwed me on before legging it with my cash :( ) - I will get this done but not right now, (hence the message up top inviting users to use our bespoke service if they have problems).
3. I can't seem to be able to move the text where I want it on the case, it just puts it on top left of case.
I will keep looking at this but I've not been able to replicate a problem. I don't have access to windows 8 so will have to figure something out for that.
4. The help video is not working
Hopefully this should be working now - I'd had them running through SSL which may be causing the errors (tested ok in firefox and chrome). Please let me know if not good.
I will look at hosting them on site long-term but used youtube as it can be good for SEO.
5. Get a message saying "internet explorer blocked content with security certificate errors".
I have no answer for this - Works fine in my IE. Unless it's an antivirus thing as it's a new unverified site. I'll do dome digging.
6. Product names are wrong on some cases EG. "Samsung4" instead of "Samsung S4".
How did I miss that?! Thanks very much - Will get that sorted.
7. There is no telephone number clearly displayed or on the contact us page, also an address is required by law
The address is listed under "Terms Of Use". I'm trying not to display a phone number as this is purely an online business at this stage (hence contact forms) and I don't want to spending my life on the phone. BUT, you may well be right and I might relent and put this on depending on customer feedback.
8. when you click the Facebook link on the bottom of the page it opens in same window, this would be best to open in new window so that the customer still has your website open
Great Spot! - and All external footer links had same problem - Now fixed.

Thanks again guys and if you see any other issues I always open to criticism.

No problem, best for us to spot any problems that customers spotting them.

I was referring to the main full screen banner that changes every few seconds it looked like it was chopping a blue rectangular button off, but I have just noticed this may be because I was on my laptop.

I'm on mobile now so can't comment on other things I found but will take another look tomorrow

anyway good luck with site it will pay off after time
