I had problems putting the paper on the mug when it was hot as I found if I took too long it smudged and couldn't get it straight quick enough.

I think you misunderstand this method
You don't have to heat printed mug up BEFORE you stick it in to the press.
just put transfer on cold mug. then put it in.
set your press to correct temp and time and off you go

S I have been trying the method putting a cold mug in I heat it up to 180 and 180 seconds .This can work sometimes but then it doesn't it sometimes blurs in the middle at the bottom ,I tried using Teflon I'm not sure why but keep getting intermediate results.

If you're based in Blandford then pop into our office during the week and Scott can talk you through the correct process for printing mugs.

Those were the instructions I had ,I soon stopped that and now put my mug in cold then press the timer but the temp drops a lot and reaches 180 about 40 secs before the end.
Most of the time the first mug comes out fine its the next ones that can go wrong. I have been reading posts on here and they say you should leave your printed paper to dry ,I am not doing this do you think this is the problem?

That would be great I only do this as a hobby so work until 3.30 at a school would he be available after then.

Getting the right pressure against the mug is essential, but the blanket should just curl round the edge of the mug with light to medium pressure. A lot of mugs can be misshapen and I have had that exact problem with blurring. What mugs were you using?

180/ 180 seconds is a guideline and will depend on your mug press. Some of my presses are set to 195 degrees for example.

How did you get on with this? The mug press will always drop in temp when you put the mug in. You need to wait for the temp to get back to the required level before you set the timer. The mug press should have the function on to allow this.
