Getting tired of adjusting the tension on my mug press by inserting mug, clamp, adjust, clamp etc. This may be of use:

Simples.....

I use a similar idea made from a strip of thin aluminium (cut with scisors). One end is cut for ceramic mugs and the other for polysub mugs. I have another cut for the other brand of ceramic mugs I used, but mostly now I do do only one brand of Ceramic or else a poly.

I hang it on the thread from and tighten the screw wheel until it just touches.
Pressing the other type of mug is just a matter of flipping it over and adjusting it.

I've never shared it until I saw this post. I assumed everyone just did this

Anyway, it is a variation on the same idea.

I also like to keep my mug pressed closed when it is heating or just sitting unused. But I don't like clamping it. I suppose the idea is left over from the old style heat element where it could lose shape if allowed to sit without a mug in it.

So here is the press with a strip of the same aluminium that clips over the press and the handle to hold the element against the spare safety mug. I leave it like that while it is heating for the first time of the day.

Probably unnecessary, but simple for those who like having a mug in place but don;t want to clamp.
