Hi,

I am tinkering with some general ideas regarding a website that i'm about to build. I'm trying to think of the best way in which a customer can upload their own image onto a mug.

I am aware of the 3D design tools etc however most are out of my budget and I cant get a reply from Techcurl as it seems they don't want my business.

so, my question is.. does anyone know of a way in which i can have an image uploaded into a rectangle on the screen, whatever is inside the rectangle gets printed and whatever is outside doesnt. This image can then be cropped to fit and then sent off to the site (and then of course to my email).

It doesnt have to be fancy it just gives the customer some control over their item. I've searched high and low and have come up with no solution.

Failing that i would possibly use JotForm so the customer can at least mail me an image.

Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated

I don't know anything about Volusion, but...........

I didn't find anything that would link in with my Prestashop site, so I'm writing my own plugin using the javascript library fabricjs. This uses the new "Canvas" function in html. You can create a template and use a mask to achieve an active area for the customer's picture. You'll need to code some buttons so that the picture can be sized, rotated, etc. I'm able to save the file to my website storage, that way it's connected to the order process in Presatshop.

One thing to watch out for - you'll need to code a way to use the original image sent by the customer as saving from the screen will only give a screen-sized image not one with the same size as the original.
e.g.

• item to be printed is 5cm x 10cm
• ideal image is 1000 x 2000 pixels at 200dpi
• can't show that number of pixels on screen so show 250px x 500px
• if user makes their picture fit in this space - that's what's saved.
• so you'll get an image 250px x 500px even if they uploaded 1000px x 2000px

Have a look at the codecanyon.net website. There are plug-ins and javascript modules that do what you are looking for, but not specifically with Volusion. However you might be able to alter a module to fit.

Many thanks for the feedback however i'm afraid my knowledge of coding etc is very very basic (even more basic than that even).

So i think what you have suggested would be outside of my capabilities
