I was going to post this in the papers section but there doesn't seem to be much activity there.
What is the difference, if any, of papers for mugs only and not fabrics??

Don't worry about there not being much activity, a quick "whats new" search always shows posts We can move the subject but will be ok here if needs be. BTW....93 threads in papers isn't that quiet!

No difference, will work on both. Some prefer cheaper Xpres papers which are thinner, others use TruPix etc. which has a higher release. higher release is often better for shirts but both work well.

for hard surface sublimation your do better with a thicker paper 100 Gms this will retain better dimensional stability for fabric lower weights are better to get more penetration.

Just wanted to ask, does anybody use the TEX PRINT mug sized paper, I have found it excellent!!

I have a very high release paper here which retains NO IMAGE after pressing, however its only good for fabrics as the paper is not porous the gasses escape through the fabric. If i press on a hard substrate (as i found to my cost) the gasses LIFT the paper and you end up with areas of ghosted image. SO as Megadisital said a thicker porous paper will allow gasses to flow through them allowing harder substrates to be pressed
