Re: New Xpres Mugs

Post by GoonerGary »

Just ordered a few boxes of the new Xpres 5013 mug. So no more Rhino coating; they've taken the old 5013 mug and coated it with their own brand new coating. They say it is a much harder coating and will give better dishwasher performance and improved edge printing when you print to the top. They just need a cool name for the coating.

Might need to edit all my hundreds of 8.3 cm height designs!!!

I can understand a claim of better dishwasher proofness as a result of a different coating but can't see how a coating makes a difference to printing to the top of a mug!

Are you saying that 'the mugs' will be better for full wrap printing and the coating will be harder? :-)

There's a problem with the dishwasher proofness of Rhino Coating?

Ring the technical support department option 4 on phone and he'll fill you in with all the blurb. He was talking about how the mug had been sprayed, so you should get a clean printing edge at the very top. When you look at photos of full top to bottom printing, it just looks like overspray. I'll have a go when they arrive and see if it is any different. They don't give too much away, but someone could ask where they are coated?

Pisque, better than Rhino coating for the amount of dishwasher cycles before fading..harder coating so more durable (apparently). Ordered three boxes which was discounted down to the fifty boxes price.

Just remembered something else...he said that the new coating was the same as their discontinued XP5059, but that was a poor quality mug IMHO, so they used that coating on the better 5013 shaped mug. Now to confuse things, I posted a message about these two mugs last year and was told that one was orca and the other rhino!!!?? Anyway maybe they will make an announcement.

Our custom made mugs are Rhino coated, but not showing any problems with dishwashers or top to bottom printing.

I use Rhino coated mugs too, I've no complaints, but thought I would take advantage of the discount.
