Re: Hello everyone, I'm new so go easy!!

Hi, I am freelance graphic designer and have my own business. I have been using other people I know to do my printing for tee's etc but have decided to buy my own di-sub printer and heat press etc to save costs.

I have been reading several posts over the last few days on the forum and have come to a conclusion of buying half decent equipment will save me a lot of time and pain!

I am looking at buying the Ricoh SG3110DN A4 Di Sub printer and either a Stahls or Xpres (both 15" x 15") heat press. A friend of mine has a cheap heat press he bought from ebay (around £150-£200) but I've read they don't give equal heat around the plate and buying a decent press would be better!?

Can anyone let me know if the above equipment, whilst more expensive would give a new starter the best experience?

Thanks for reading and I hope to stay around a while!

Hi there and welcome to the forum :-)

I won't go into great detail here in the Intros section but something to bear in mind, if you join our Premium Members scheme (£10 per year) you'll get a hefty discount with Xpres on the printer and press as well as a few other key suppliers :-)

You've come to the best conclusion, you do get what you pay for and if you have funds available then that's your best route.

Good Morning BadlyDrawnBlue,

We have the Ricoh you are looking for online if you are looking for this printer, the online price is quite a deal.
However on the pressing front it all depends on what you are looking for, we have some great clam presses that will reliably do the job for you at a budget price.

If you need any advice just send over an email or give us a call and I can offer my advice.

The package you are putting together is a great start into sublimation, just make sure you get all the extras like tape and silicon sheets also.
Good luck and have a good day
