Hello all, my name is Kevin and I live and work near Penrith in Cumbria. I never intended to get into sublimation but I have found myself drawn in
I work at an outdoor centre and part of what I do is looking after and repairing equipment. I've got a small (evenings/weekends) business of my own doing sewing repairs to gear. I have started looking at hot seam repairs. Really just technical versions of wonder web that you can use to iron up a hem on a pair of trousers for example. I then started looking at more accurate heat sources than an iron. I don't want to burn a tent by mistake by having it run to hot. That got me looking at cap presses as a more accurate and manageable tool. I was going to get a cheap one. Then you read about temperature fluctuations and uneven heating and I would rather get something as reliable as I can afford. Then I came to this forum and started reading around the whole subject and without meaning to came to be interested in the whole process of sublimation. It's quite remarkable that for a relatively small investment you can get access to this gear which produces such high quality results. So where I am at the minute is thinking of buying a press which can do a number of things. I would like to try making some signs for work. So I am wondering whether an adkins studio press would tick the boxes... I'll stop here though. I know this is just for introductions. So hello, I've already learnt a lot from the forum and look forward to learning more.
