Hello

I have an Epson WF7015 Printer and CISS ink system

I intend to use the printer for the purpose of using with a mug press

I am unsure of what ICC profile to use. Also what transfer to use.

The information I have just read tells me I need a different ICC profile for each type of paper I use. Is this the case for using transfer paper

Also will I be ok with an old version of photoshop. Or is it possible to use GIMP.

I am new to this and a little confused.

ICC profiles are specific to the printer model, and ink used, aswell as the transfer paper and final product you are printing to.
Most people get away with a profile specific to their printer model and ink.
People who want the maximum accuracy, make their own profiles (or have them made for them) which are specific to their unique printer model, inks, transfer papers, and final product used (we fall into this category, as there is quite a difference in colour and quality when printing fabrics compared to mugs for example)

Once you choose your transfer paper, you should stick with it as each paper will give different results if you are going to be really precise about your colours. So buy your paper and then use that paper to get your ICC profile charts printed. Trupix and Xpres sublimation papers are normally recommended on here.

Old Photoshop versions are fine, when you buy your profile, it should have all the settings for Photoshop. I've never used Gimp, but best to stick with Photoshop.

I don't think GIMP can do full ICC colour management for print. Photoshop from old version 6 I think can, I remember that version 5.5 didn't.
