I have been asked for a set of 'Rim Strips' for a bike (They are a strip of vinyl around the rim of a Motorcycle Wheel) for 'Looks' mainly but I want to make 'Reflective' ones for safety !

I am also not the best with Math (We used t call it 'maths' in the early 80's) - I can quickly work out simple numbers but 'Arc's'.. no, I don't know where to start !

Could One of you clever people help me make this Template in Photoshop please ?

I could well save a life with this, even offering them to my own Motorcycle Club at a nice discount.

I am looking to make a 17 inch version, hopefully.

circumference is pi times the diameter so your strip would be
17" x pi = 53.4"

try this online calculator

i have rim tape on my bikes, its felxible and stretches to the curve when you apply it surely if you are wanting to make them in say 3 sections, you would draw a 17" circle colour black and a 16" circle colour white join them combine them, and then split them into 3 sections re arrange them in semicircles so they take up less room cutting - and bobs your uncles dog - there is no doubt a simpler way, but i cant see why it need involve math or maths

Arrrrgggghhhh....rim tape on a 'bike'.......still there's no accounting for taste. Halfrauds flog rim tape on a roll so with that in mind why not just cut the strips and smooth them on. Assuming they are applied in a warm environment conforming them to the curve shouldn't be a problem. Maybe a hairdryer applied would help.

Oh and it's 'Maths'........

don't worry roger its only on me track bike  (and from some of the kit people wear there is no taste on the track) - and its a pita as it will lift if its pressure washed etc, so the thought of having it in 3 or more pieces would be a nightmare, given the imperfections on a bike rim, i would not want to put normal outdoor vinyl on them - yep, even worse i did apply it with a hairdryer lol

I'm giving this idea a miss all together, apart from what Ms Maggot posted above I can see the customer messing up the application and blaming the 'Cut' or something. and as official 'Rim Tape' is soo cheap there is no point.

Personally I wouldn't have this tape on my rims - I am not a big fan of any stickers on a bike - just dont understand people who advertise oil companies etc all over their bikes for free ! in-fact I have fallen out with a few people for asking why they are giving free advertising..

The only thing I am doing is the original decals in different colours, which seems quite popular :)
