So I printed a couple of metal clock faces tonight, nothing new there. Only the second I forgot to remove the plastic protection cover, doh!

I remember a long while ago discussing this with coasters and some members said that they still printed ok.

Low and behold my metal printed identically to the first one! I guess it's something to do with the ink turning to a gas and it finds its way through the plastic?

I've done this quite a few times with phone cases, at first I was reprinting before sending them out to customer then one day I printed on for myself on purpose and it lasted the whole 8 month I used the case before changing design.

I agree the gas must somehow get through the plastic. Only thing is it made the plastic hard to get off the insert lol

Yeah, we noticed this when we first started doing phone cases, that they do print OK, although a bit more blurred, but the main problem was getting the now baked on plastic film off - cue kitchen and various cleaning fluids moment!

I have done that many a time with pet ID tags and keyring inserts.. totally forgotten and then when they press blurry, know exactly what I have done.. they never seem as crisp
