Tearing my hear out - we have been asked to supply travel mugs - we had half a dozen white and silver Travel mugs and thought we would try them with our artwork - the white ones look washed out so we thought a longer time - BMS says 90 secs and video says 2 mins 30!!!!!

New supply arrived from BMS Friday so today we tried them - metal ones are a different shape and style and comes apart in to 4 sections. Took it all apart put in the machine and they are now out of shape - if we put with the top on then the paper does't fit so we will need a new template! The white ones are a different shape but not getting the right time and temperature as the image is not sharp and because we have cooked it so long the brown is coming off of the paper and tainting the white - can anyone help please at it is a lot to lose at £4 per mug!!!

Sadly the girls at BMS could not advise!

Help Please?

Thanks
Gill

HI Gill
dont know about the new bms ones but the white metal ones we press at 190 for about 200 secs with no problems if thats any help. i would add that if you are using ricoh to print then the time needs to be a bit less than normal or blacks turn brown

Metal prints a lot quicker than ceramic so we print at 60 seconds..... same as metal under a flat press. 195c is ideal but now and then we find the coating softer on these items so might lower the temp. We mainly use the silver versions but have done white the same.

Hi Gill,

Metals heat up much more rapidly that ceramics so only need around the 90 seconds mark to transfer. It's much the same as many metals - nothing like the length of time as a ceramic. The metal travel mugs also need light pressure otherwise there is the potential for the metal to change shape.

Once printed then the travel mug can be assembled.
