hey all
got an epson b1100.
given it just over a week ago with standard inks in which needed replacing.

replaced all inks with genuine epson inks and still the ink light wont go out.

have taken all inks out, given a shake and put back in, powered off for a while and when turned
back on still light on.

does anyone know if this means it needs taking to a repair person or can i sort it myself?

any help/ advice as always greatly appreciated.

Unless it's a simple fix......are they 'genuine' Epson carts? Are they 'refills in Epson carts? Sometimes the 'chip' in the new ones don't work and this happens, I would bin it. I've had it happen a couple of times with our home printer (Epson something or other).......knackered 'chip'. The simple answer is if it's not an easy fix bin it and buy new...or there's one on 'that' Bay place for £90.00

Start by shaking the cart and wiping the contacts with boiling water. Even the grease off your finger can cause the contacts to give false reading. I've got a 1100 which was working fine and last week stopped working, won't even power up. And yes I have checked fuse, tried another lead etc and nothing, so have got a Brother 5910 coming now.
