I recently bought an smart phone that was not fixed to a specific provider. I opted for Aldi Talk ( from the Aldi supermarket) which costs me 7,99€ for 30 days. 300mb and 300mins on the phone. Thats under 100€ a year.
Can you get that over there?

I'm not sure but my mobile contract is almost up and I am looking for an alternative.
I was going to go for the iPhone 4s as the V5 is plastic - the 4S looks much nicer and is better built, I must have the White One.. The reason for that thinking is because I want it to work seamlessly with my iPad and iMac.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 at the moment - outstanding camera and screen compared to the iPhone but the connectivity is lacking (with my Apple stuff)..
So, I am in a quandry - do I take a lesser phone just for ease of use but put up with a bad camera and pitiful screen size and quality or go for a Galaxy S4 which is an outstanding device?
I was thinking also of not going the contract route as there are some good monthly deals available here - £10 a month for a deal like yours, probably paying a bit up front for the phone but I hardly use a phone fone for talking - just data which means I need a better screen. Always looking to save money though.

Hi Nik. I was lucky. My girlfriend bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. ( Now that is a great phone. ) She Gave me her old Galaxy 2 and its my first ever Smart phone. As I work all day with the computer and internet I dont want to be tied to a mobil doing work at weekends, and paying large fees to the mobil company. Aldi Talk is so cheap. I just wondered if its over there.

What do you think to the Note 3 Earl.. I am not sure about it.. I currently have the Note from when it first came out.. and my partner has the Note 2 - but seeing the Note 3 it is looking extremely square and more like the Iphone which I won't buy.. I love the feel of the smoother Note/Note2 but allegedly the phone itself is definitely a cut above the original ones.. I don't upgrade till October 14 (which by then the Note 4 will probably be out) but I like the idea of the 3..

Just to clear it up for you Earl... they dont do it over here! Or if they do, I couldnt find it for you. Aldi Talk uses the E-Plus network operator in Germany, Australia, Belgium, and the Netherlands. When I lived in Dortmund, I always had cracking deals on the Vodafone network for 5€ ...but was limited on the data/internet due to it being very new at the time.

If I could have a wishlist at this current moment for a mobile it would be the Galaxy S4 in an HTC One Case.
I agree, the deal you speak of is not available here - I often wonder what that Giffgaff card is at the Tesco tills !

GiffGaff doesnt look too bad Nik. For a tenner you get 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1 gig data! Thats not bad at all!..... although I dont know anyone that uses it to find out what the coverage is like and which operator they use. Also, they are giving a free £5 of extra credit when you top up the first tenner!
