think ill make this a regular feature.......
A couple of weeks ago i recieved an inbox message from a member on here (i'll resist naming ) Now this message asked for advise on costings for a particular product.
I helpfully replied with an extensive message pointing out all the possible pitfalls and what to watch out for when printing up this particular item and also on how they should price the item . this took a good 15-20 mins out of my valuble time. This info could easily be used to undercut me and they could easily become a competitor but in the spirit of this forum i gave the information freely.
Do i want flowers thrown in my path as i walk for enparting my pearls of wisdom .....no
do i want messages declareing eternal gratitude ..... not really
do i want to be showered with gold and gems for being a nice guy ... itd be nice but dont expect it
do i want a "thanks for the info " type message ........... well yes i bloodywell do
ive made all the mistakes and learnt, ive found out all the little tricks of the trade which help no end all this through years of experiance and im daft enough to pass the advice on for free you would think the very least you could expect is a simple thanks .
Just a note ... this is the main reason you see the term old member and not premium member under my name i might be stupid enough to pass info on to those who cant be bothered to say thanks im not stupid enough to pay for the privllage .
wednesdays rant over

I don't see that as a rant though and think you have been very restrained.
I have had the same and tend to get very selective on who I offer advice to. Sometimes a hunch tells me that the member is decent enough, other times I just don't like the member name
I do not have any flowers to throw down, but if you want to pop over, there are plenty of leaves falling on my driveway, now if I can get a broom to follow behind you somehow then we are all good, any ideas where to stick it

He who does a kindness to an ungrateful person, sets his seal to a flint and sows his seed upon the sand; on the former he makes no impression, and from the latter finds no product.
The adage is if you want to help, give the gift for nought, if you want gratitude pet a dog lol. Thankyou is the least you deserve. There are many members here who post replies which help newer members grow and develop and for all their help and yours I humbly thank them and you. There are some who reply to threads with advice or comments which do nothing to enlarge our understanding on any level.
I have suffered with the same affliction on another forum. After spending many hours researching an item which would prove useful to them and providing quotes from suppliers I was not only ignored but berated for providing inaccurate information which (I hasten to add) had come directly from the suppliers own technical department.
I was beside myself with indignation and decided not to help anyone further with any matter. Still with the bitter taste of regret in my mouth I was astonished to find the member now posting on every single thread, Having only been a member for a few weeks they were proffering advice (mostly incomplete or inaccurate) about similar items as well as using the information I had gathered for them as their own. I grew tired of seeing their name on every thread with three lines of text which displayed their ignorance to such a degree it drew only incredulity.
Needless to say I withdrew myself from the forum which is now awash with people as well versed in technique as newly born mice are of visual acuity.
They posted such gems as:
Q: I want an very large image for the side of my van
A: save it as a jpeg
Q: My frame isn't square how do I rectify it
A: Nail it tight at the corners
Q: I need a better image from the client for printing around 160mb how can they send it.
A: Get them to email it
Q: I want to frame an image without a mat
A: Heyya! It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads
Jeez three weeks on the forum and they were chuffing Einstein.
I suppose that experience is not as important as the size of your mouth!

Love it
Well if we are all going to start ranting....
My beef is with lying about copyright infringement. Don't get me wrong I really do not care if anyone on here copies anything that they are not supposed to, its their business they are putting in danger. But coming on here and saying that they have full permission for images that clearly they don't really bugs me. Happened recently with the owner of wehaveany.com who when challenged ignored the comment, and I note still has the images on their site. Do I care about the fact that they are selling copyrighted images, not really, but I really do care if they tell me they have permission...
Might have to unsubscribe from this thread as it might start getting my blood boiling

I had this from a member only the other day, he was telling me he made something available to someone for download (something hard to find) which was promptly downloaded - and not a word of Thanks..
I think sometimes people don't use common courtesy because this is a fake world where we all hide behind screens devoid of feelings.
