Just about to fix someone's PC. Easy and quick option is to re-install Windows but I'd be interested in some feedback on the problem that's arisen.

It's a boot problem (see attached file) I've researched and found out a little more but solutions appear thin on the ground. I found a repair CD through this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEHOlQt7jbg and wondered if anyone had ever used this?

I thought initially it might be s scam but having searched I find them discussing it on a couple of forums at length along with users that have benefited before.

I've never used a repair disk like this and in my experience any built in repair modules in Windows never work

Normall if you boot from a install windows 7 disk it has a repair option at the start,also allows you to go in to the machine and edit files and the registry of the windows installation.No other disk is required to repair the boot problem.The screen grab picture is a blue memory allocation error.

or
2, safe mode boot and restore back a few days and establish what caused the problem

Appreciate the possible solutions which I'm aware of but interested to find out about this CD. Windows repair with the install are a waste of time, better to format imo

If you are old school like me and remember dos, then you can use the repair disk to get a command prompt and very easy repair the boot sector of windows, with out having to format anything at all wasting time

Sorry, I can't of made my initial post clear No problems fixing it just wanting more info on this particular disk to see if it may be useful.

Not sure about that one on youtube Justin as the majority are scammers. The only one I can vouch for is HirensBoot CD. Years ago it contained a few dodgy apps which have now been removed which rendered it lame and an outcast by most users as the concern for their PC's safety escalated, but is probably one of the most popular tool collections around today.

i'd have to agree Justin. When problems like this start to appear I usually do a full format, but obviously this is only really feasible if the person has all their data backed up somewhere else. If they do, a format will give them a much faster system probably, and clear out any junk they may have accumulated over time!
