It is the 28th october ... monday just copied this of the RM consultation site

Proposal to amend Inland Letter Post Scheme in relation to universal parcels Royal Mail has launched a consultation on plans to revise the exception to the USO Small Parcel format which was introduced in April 2013. The new exception will enable customers sending items which do not exceed 350mm x 250mm x 160mm (approximately the size of a large shoebox) to be priced as Small Parcels. Royal Mail is of the opinion this would be a beneficial change for our customers, as it will enable more items to be priced as a Small Parcel. Customers who have bought the cube exemption size packaging will still be able to post as a small parcel with this extended size. The changes are planned to be introduced on 28 October 2013. - See more at: http://www.royalmailgroup.com/regulatio ... x9bph.dpuf

Been to my local office today and commented on this. The manageress, who is a friend, said the 'management' had 'supposedly' seen a massive drop off in parcels carried which meant lost revenue because of the stupid pricing/dimensions structure. Maybe consumer pressure....or common sense has come to the fore.

due to ebay and amazon, who had a meeting with rm, and came to an agreement, not so much common sense, just lost thousands from non sales, and i would imagine between those 2 companies, let alone all the smaller ones, rm must have lost so much money - good thing all round

My local post mistress told me about this - introduced so Royal Mail do not miss out on posting of Christmas presents.

Wonder if 6 mugs would squeeze under the 2kg?

If not, surely 4 would

We use these multi boxes to ship mugs out, but have been getting them couriered, but may take another look at RM now (even if the local post office counter staff are a bit grumpy!)
