We have been hit with a virus, it keeps flashing up that the memory is low, and you need to click here to sort it out etc. Shut the computer down and took it into our local Tec guys. All done.... so we thought, except something is still lurking as it won't allow any antivirus software to load up!
Norton had been installed but somehow had been nobbled.
I think it came from viewing vector images for ideas in a google search.

My personal opinion is Norton is a waste of time and a major resource hog. I use Avast, malwarebytes, superantispyware and cccleaner to keep things safe. Rollback RX is perfect for these issues, you just roill the PC back in time before the virus hit :-)

The guys said the same thing about Norton.
Being somebody who really doesn't like computers, I find this sort of thing infuriating. Electrical / mechanical repairs no problem ..... computers blahhhh...

Avast for me too - not that I profess to know anything about that techy side of computing, but my man who sorts my computers (AKA font of all knowledge)told me to avoid Norton and suggested Avast - and it's free! It has been excellent

I use malwarebytes, it sorted out 32 items. Next time the computer was turned on the problem was back!
Pesky virus .

It appears a re-install is required, it has infected the firewall and prevents anti virus software from installing. First time in 25 years of computer use. Grrr.

Sorry to hear that Janners :-( I know what you're saying, if it was 'physical' 'burnt out' 'work out' you could get your hands dirty and replace it but it's blooming annoying when you can't see it or touch it but it does so much damage!
