Ok, Finally decided which room to dedicate to this Printing /Cutting venture and built a bench system to suit. Just need to get rid of that Glass table and bring my equipment down (from the original 'Small' room).

I will need a good lamp for my 'application table' (As I think I will call it), so I am hoping the clever members here may be able to advise ?

I'm think it will be a fluorescent type deal, it just needs to give a good white light (if that is possible with such old technology).

oh, and I won't be using my super expensive executive leather chair here either - the chair needs to be hard and uncomfortable.

No 'Lamp' Experts ?

I'm surprised, but I bet somebody has a preference for what I am after, if not I will just go ahead and over-engineer something to suit my needs :)

The best lamps for this sort of work are called daylight lamps which give a more natural tone.

That said I have an angle poise lamp with a flourescent lamp which I purchased from Staples. Very handy and great as it moves around so I can position close up fro intricate work. Its similar to the one below but I know I did not spend £60.00 on it!

Daylight bulbs/tubes are essential IMO. With these you get the best lighting conditions, other than actual daylight to check your colours are coming out correctly. Other light sources (electric) will give a colour cast...as I found out to my cost with banner printing. I scrapped one because the colour was wrong then took the next one outdoors to show she who must be obeyed and voila the colours were as they should be hence I now have daylight tubes.

I wish there was a 'Like' button on this forum (So everybody knew when a reply had been seen at least).

Thanks for the replies - on Thursdays I present a Hospital Radio Request show, only just got home.

Will catch up in the morning but I do think 'Daylight' seems the way to go - I popped into Hobby Craft earlier as I was nearby and they want something like £120 for such a lamp.. as soon as I settle on what I need I will find it for an agreeable price :)

You do not need a special lamp for a daylight luminaire. An example below is one I just did a quick search for on the web

P.S. You should not call them bulbs (although everyone does). I once did a presentation at Philips lighting for a marketing strategy and the first time I said bulb someone shouted "they are lamps, bulbs are sold in (insert rude word here) garden centres" :-)

I'll second what SG said.....the things that 'light up'..call them what you will...bulbs/lamps/tubes are available in 'daylight temperatures'. You don't need a specific 'expensive rip off' complete light/lamp to do the job. These light sources are available as 'bulbs' and tubes for fluorescent units so don't go paying a fortune for something that can be sorted for a few £'s

Apologies for using the 'B' word in the context of Lamps.

I bought this one: Ere (Not from this company at that price) - I found one for £45 which is much more acceptable.

Bit the bullet today after spending an hour or so Weeding with only the main room 'Lamp' on - that was not the most comfortable experience.

Will let you know how it performs.
