I've been asked if I can do some for sale boards by a small local estate agent.

After a lot of googling, I've discovered that they use Correx boards generally.

Would it be possible to use outdoor sign vinyl on these?

The lady has been quoted £400 for 6 @ 900mmx900mm with 4/5 lines of text on

I can get the boards relatively cheaply, but not sure if vinyl will work.

Technically any sign vinyl will do. I'm sure somebody has more expertise than me but the difference in sign vinyl is dictated by it's durability to weather. I made myself a shop sign using a couple of the 4' x 3' correx boards and the cheap sign vinyl. It's been up all winter and hasn't detiorated.

Been on to the supplier and he's sending me out new, ones, he never said which year that would be though

Sign vinyl should have durability for 3-5 years - that's the type we sell. There is longer durability available as well though.

Correx should be white so you will need to flood coat it in vinyl first if you want a different colour.
The apply on top of that.
It's not hard. Don't apply wet apply dry otherwise you will have a nightmare with bubbles.

It will just be a white background with coloured text on, they've not decided what colour text, or for that matter, what text they want on.

They have a rough idea, but nothings been set in stone yet.


Another question, would it be possible to get some "sold" stickers that can be put on and taken off again, or would that peel the vinyl off aswell.

ooo Just had a thought, I could put clear vinyl over the top of the board once the writing is on, and then they can do what they want, I think that would work

You would need to check how long term the short term exterior life is though and advise the client.

Are you sure your customer has got her prices right - I used to screen print loads of these years ago but gave up as I couldn't get more than £5.00 - £7.00 (depending on how many colours) per board due to them getting mass produced digitally.

Many moons ago in another life I was involved in producing these in quite substantial quantities - we printed the signs with "sold" or "let" and then produced separate pieces of board with "for sale" "under offer" and "to let" on them which had holes punched and were attached using a bolt and wingnut - they put them up with the for sale/to let screwed on - then when the property was sold/let it was a very quick job to remove the plate leaving sold/let showing or change it to under offer. This might be a more durable and reliable option?
