Had an ebay dispute opened today, "item posted was wrong" i contacted the customer puzzled, and that it was a shame, they felt the need to open a dispute without contacting us first, the customer called me horrified to say they had not wanted to open a dispute, but when they had clicked on contact seller, "open a dispute" was the only option they were given, we had quite a chat about ebay, and they said that they were cross that they could not just have contacted me, that it prompted them to open a dispute, they are now going to attempt to contact ebay and ask that the dispute is taken away - not just closed, as they had not wanted to open it in the first place, they had only wanted to contact me about the item i had sold them, and not raise any issue with the item itself ...................... shakes head and walks away, it might be time to shut the ebay shop

Laura theres loads of stupid changes in ebay recently one of them is as you have described although this will not count against you unless it gets escalated . Other stupid changes are the so called clean photos ie no text or boarders of any description just a picure of the item when i quizzed ebay about this saying how can i sell a tea towel when it looks like a square piece of cloth thet suggested i print one of each design and post the pictures up that way (at a cost obviously) though he did find it difficult to answer me when i said how do put a photo that hasnt been sent to me yet on a tea towel and will ebay be responsible for me displaying someones picture without their consent ? as for shutting the ebay shop ive been long considering this myself as bauldrick from black adder says i have a cunning plan!!!

I was shocked to see i couldnt reply to a message that included my email address the other day, the amount of time it took for the customer to work out how to send me a photo was unreal.

yup thats another of ebays master strokes again i spoke to ebay regarding this their answer was that pictures can now be attached to messages i asked if they would stand on the sellers side when complaints came in due to low quality pics and again they couldnt answer that . face it guys ebay dont want us anymore

eBay want high volume envelope stuffers. Nothing more. It's not in their corporate interests to have small companies or individual sellers taking up all that time and effort.

i was wondering what would happen if even one in 10 of ebay sellers just stopped for a week when the new changes take effect, i put my seller name across all my photos as i was getting so fed up with the pictures being nicked by other people, so without all the jargon, what are the new rules in a nutshell ??

in a nutshell if you sell a mug then the picture will be of that mug only no names no sizes nothing just the mug so yes i can come along and nick your nice clean pic . if they really wanna be picky, and in the case of a dispute they do get picky, if you produced a mug with a stock photo on it then took a photo of it youvshould then sell the mug with that photo on ok that might be a little over the top but it wouldnt be the first time ebay have been so literal in a dispute

It seems to me that since a lot of these weird rules have been integrated that ebay will soon be losing more than just sellers... without small businesses, that probably make up a substantial part worldwide of ebay's revenue , the customers will also turn to other sites not so well known for their purchases. I vote for a "World Non-Trade Day" too Laura. It would no doubt make a dent... but would it change their view?.

in reality no they wouldnt change their view after all ebay is a world wide company im not sure it would make that much of an impact. ebay aspire to be another amazon type concern envlope stuffers is a fair description of the sellers it wants. True they will lose the bargin hunters out there who cant wait to bid on those secondhand shoes you found at the bottom of your wardrobe but is that such a big loss to ebay? i doubt it. you can only hope the likes of ebid or similar take up the slack but how long will that take ?
