Hi Justin and the other members.

I'm Ross, I live in the northern half of a large island in the southern hemisphere, where everything seems to bite, sting or wash and blow you away. But we put up with it because it is a great place to live and is is one of the last hangouts for PWLTM.

I've lurked this forum since I started experimenting with sublimation. Partly to learn things and partly because I hate windows. A little over 40 years in computers maybe influences that. I use LINUX. I started running my office on it once it became easy to use in 1998 (easy for a tech and programmer Now I use it for everything Including Dye Sub.

Thanks Ian. This forum was very helpful to me when I was starting out in January and had no idea about things. I am still learning and have a long way to go.

Thanks Justin, you were a great help. Not only in the registration problem, but some of your posts while I was lurking earlier in the year.

Welcome to the forum. If memory serves me right I thought there were a few threads of people experimenting with Linux on here a year or two ago. There may be some interest in reviving those threads - or it might have been a completely different forum!

Ah yes, there were people here experimenting. I found some of those threads when I was thinking of dye sub. They are the reason I've joined. I can;t see any point in someone that already has a Mac or Windows, changing to Linux. Not when all the tools, ICC profiles, drivers etc. are laid out for them.

For people like me though, who grew up not knowing Windows or MS DOS, well, some of us like the simplicity and versatility of Linux. Our machines usually work for years faultlessly. ' Usually'

So I'm here, not as an evangelist of Linux. Simply trying to make some information available for say, someone that wants to print mugs but doesn't want to buy a new computer yet to go with the mug press. If I can save someone some expense and angst, and help them get started, they will probably go all the way and get a windows machine anyway once they see what they can do with Linux.

In my case, I'm now mostly Dye Subbing my own photographic images on poly mugs and printing matching images with pigment onto canvas prints for a niche tourist market.

Which version of Linux are you using (if this is in another thread them just point me to it!)

Doh! Just found it!

Yes, I use a mixed Linux because after 40 years as a programer and technician this is the first time I've been interested in doing unusual stuff on my computers. A Google of my name or nick will show me poking around in Linux testing and discussions since the 90's.

Again, I'm not interested in trying to convert people to Linux, but like many others I like it, I prefer it, that's why I persist with it.
