I printed on shiny side
Maybe the paper then - never used shiny paper for sublimation, sounds like photo paper.

its not shiny like photo paper if I hold it to the light I can see flecks of shine on it when I print on other side it prints fine but won't transfer onto a painted wooden plaque I have the heat press set at 200 c for a minute and tried again for 2 minutes no joy just faded transfer and yet same image works fine on fabric
