Re: Are extensions easy on opencart
What i want to know is if i purchase extensions like banners and colors etc etc are they easy enough to install on opencart, with very little experience im getting annoyed with myself and website as i just cant get it to look professional enough to my liking, so if i bought some add ons am i just going to confuse myself even more?

If you use modifications that can be installed using vqmod its a piece of cake.

Lol, sorry that didn't sound as helpful as I'd meant!
Vqmod allows mods to be easily installed/removed as it manages everything for you.

Re: Are extensions easy on opencart
ive finally decided after paying 3 month for approx 500mb of bandwidth per month from chris on this site that im not happy and im going back to weebly, i had more options and less hassle, ive just wasted a month of web building and have gotten nowhere, i hope i can take my press it on i bought off paul back to my old site. as that could be £50 wasted too .
Re: Are extensions easy on opencart
Press it on would prob be hard to install on opencart if at all possible i have been in touch with few developers who all say they would need change in alot of files meaning price goes through the roof regards to vqmod they are just one file to upload then the extension works, vqmods also do not change any of the opencart core files but standard extension are just as easy as long as they are new files
For my opencart hosting im with 1and1 and have been with them for about 6 year now and dont have any complaints despite the bad press some people give them.
If you need any help with opencart give me a shout and if i can help i will (free of course)

Re: Are extensions easy on opencart
Thanks mattie, but after a long good think about it I've given up open cart and gone back to weebly drop and drag. It feels like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders as I didn't understand all the Cpanel etc and now I will start over again with weebly .
ps thanks for the offer

No worries, i know opencart can be a pain but once you get it up and running its a great bit of kit
Be careful swapping hosting n rebuilding websites as google will stop picking you up as easy for seo
I've never looked at weebly i might have a look for a new idea i have

I feel your pain and your relief Dave. I did the same thing with opencart. I was so close to getting it set up but just could not quite get there. Went to a website company and relaxed.

@Mattie... Paul's PressItOn installed fine on Daves site with OpenCart, even got it to appear as a pop-up window centered on the page when the link was clicked.... no need to leave the page you are on.
@Dave.... vQMod is an excellent script like Justin says to install/deactivate addons/plugins etc... here is the latest one... https://vqmod.googlecode.com/files/vqmo ... encart.zip
Here is the video tut to install it.. very straightforward... https://code.google.com/p/vqmod/wiki/Install_OpenCart.
Working with cPanel on your host is a risky thing if you dont know what files you have to edit. Once you know the core files that you have to change, its not as bad as everyone thinks.
Like I said in another thread to you, if you want help, Im only down the road. But first you need to have the concept of your site, how it should look, your theme and categories etc.
There are some excellent hosts around (doesn't have to be a British firm!) and most offer good support. Give us a bell or PM if you change your mind.
p.s. .... Dave, have you already gone back to Weebly?... I just checked your site and its down?
