I've just sublimated a few key ring inserts but I'm not happy with the finish. I assumed they would be nice and glossy but they have a sort of mottled effect on them. It looks like a residue from the film but I can't feel anything. Shouild I have polished them with a cloth before printing or am I expecting too much?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I have no pressure settings on my press so it'll have to be guess work. It's all about learning. x

For what it's worth, i press all my metals, by letting the press close under it's own weight, but not letting it click shut, done thousands that way, and never a problem, seems to release better that way as well, but again, it's just my way that works, no doubt others have their own ways and are just as successful.
Best tip is, when you find a way that works for you, don't change.

I do them upside down, no more mottled effect,

Paper facing up- metal facing down, piece of paper on top, and light pressure.

Yes Mike, I did that.
I've been reading the above with interest. Different methods suit different people. I'll be testing some of the theories at the weekend.
