I'm just about to purchase an xpres multi mug press

I'm just looking into available mug supply options and I'm a bit confused about mug sizing and which non-xpres mugs will fit the press.

Their standard mug is 9cm height x 8cm - this seems to be the same as the BMS European coated mug, so I am right in thinking the BMS mug will fit with the standard mug element?

I'm also looking at the latte elements, does anyone know if the small or large latte elements fit any other mugs? I can't find any dimensions for the xpres mugs or the elements on their site to compare with other company's mugs.

I have this press without the other blankets, its a fantastic press btw!

I print 10oz mugs in mine from several suppliers.

One thing to ask xpres..... I've always used a firm pressure but Adkins are stating on a you tube video that light pressure is better.

Thanks Justin. Excuse the newbie question - is the 10oz the the standard size? Xpres don't seem to work in oz's !

There are two different sizes of "standard mug" 10oz and 11oz

The 11oz mugs are heavier, chunkier and the general consensus is that they are not as nice or elegant as the 10oz

Most companies should state the capacity but I know that Xpres don't for some reason. However they are 10oz mugs just like the others sold all over. The best thing for you to do is firstly start with Xpres mugs because then everything is from one place. If you have any problems then you only need to refer to the one company.

Once you become more experienced you can then try BMS, Listawood, Longforte, Coralgraph even Ebay (if you dare!!!) and find the mug that suits you needs in terms of quality, price etc etc.

There is a huge range of standard mugs each with their own good points and bad points so it is really down to you as the user.

As I deal in bulk and am a cheap b'std I always go for the absolute cheapest I can find, you however may determine that your clients deserve the best mug on the market, which in my opinion right now is from BMS with all the others very close behind.

The same go's for latte mugs, in that most of them should fit most blankets

Lastly, ask as many questions as you want, this is what a forum is for. All I would say is try to do a search of the forum first as your question may have been answered (several times) before. Typing the same answer time after time gets a tad annoying

Thanks - that's great advice! The reason I was looking at other mugs was that I have sample Xpres mug that I have been roadtesting with daily tea drinking and dishwashing for the past month. The inside is now quite stained and the image has faded, which was disappointing. That was supposed to be dishwasher safe (orca coated I think?), so I'm a bit loathed to buy anymore from them especially the latte mugs as they aren't coated at all.

Must admit that is quite surprising for Xpres. Try mugs that are RN Coated instead of Orca.

You may want to do a search on the forum as there is a thread (a very long one!) somewhere about Orca v RN coating.

That'll be another mug of tea then!
