I got given a free printer the other day off a family member and being a newby to the sublimation world wondered if it would do the trick or if I would still need to get one.

Any inkjet epson can be turned into sublimation printer. But not any epson will run trouble free. So is up to you if you want to start this way...

strt looking for the kits for them from suppliers on ebay and alike, and also consider it will need a good clean. As Paul suggests its not an ideal way to start a business, and you may indeed end up wasting a lot of products.

If you're up for a challenge, get yourself some refillable cartridges and some ink, bung it all together, get a profile made up, and see where that gets you.
You're unlikely to get any help from anyone, though - that's the "challenge" part (figuring it all out yourself).
If you're not up to the challenge, then you should seriously look at the "easy" options of authorised systems from authorised sellers. They'll help you out in the early days.

I'd also get some cleaning fluid/flush to flush out and clean whatever is already in there before putting sublimation inks in.
But yeah, as JSR says, a set of refill carts, some sublimation ink and an ICC profile and you'll be set.

Thanks people, I'll give it a go as I'm certainly up for a challenge. Just trying to keep my start up cost's as low as possible. As far as I am aware as well the printers not been used. its still in its original wrapping.

Even better if it's brand new/unused - no unknown gunk residing inside it - perfect!
