So I notice that BT are now offering completely unlimited Boradband. My current provider, PlusNet are also offering unlimited. I've checked all the T&C's, spoken to customer services etc. and it really is unlimited. BT have one note that they can monitor peer to peer usage but otherwise no issues.

A few companies have claimed unlimited usage in the past, just before Xmas I 'ran into' a rep from TalkTalk who tried to tell me the same whilst his colleague hid embarrassed in the background.....they have (had) a 40Gb limit at that time but claimed unlimited until you checked the small print fair usage.

It's something that I've been thinking about recently. The way the internet, games consoles, modern TV's etc. are going the typical 10Gb, 40Gb even 60Gb caps are very quickly eaten away. A couple of iPads, Androids, PC's in the house regularly watching YouTube, playing on-line games and so on soon racks up the Gb!

The advent of downloadable TV content, HD films, OnDemand etc. comes at a (data) price as well.

So hopefully this is the way forward. I spoke to PlusNet quite recently as my data allowance was disappearing way too quickly but they told me I'm on the biggest and that's that. This unlimited must have come in very recently I assume.

Price Wise, PlusNet are £9.99 per month (unlimited) BT are £16 per month but have a few good offers on, free for 6 months+£25 Sainsburys Card.

Just thought I'd share this and see if anyone is currently subscribed to unlimited broadband? Now we really can do what we want, watch TV in the corner of your monitor, backup far more data to the cloud and so on

I've got everything with Virgin Justin & have been happy with them. Fair enough they might not be the cheapest but, if something goes wrong & an engineer has to come out there is no charge at all.

I've been with PlusNet for several years now, same here, I can't really fault them That said, I emailed 4 days ago saying I was looking at leaving to go to BT for a better deal. They acknowledged the email but never responded with details of their new plans or any specific offers. I rang them tonight and they were quite embarrassed ...but still didn't mention the plans! You can reach all of their dept's, Sales, Billing, Technical 7 days a week but Terminations only work weekdays! lol.

Hmm i pay £18 for 40gb infinity with bt and £5 for every gb i go over :frown:

I've been paying £17.99 with a 60Gb usage cap for over 4 years. Kept this plan as I wanted monthly not annual contract....I'll be going annual now though! Some great plans for fibre, up to 76Mb etc. but we'll never see that in Shetland

Like Ian I am with Virgin. Must admit with their fibre optic line and 100meg speed it is blisteringly quick (50 meg takes about 5-10 seconds ish). It is more expensive but ignoring the problems with installation I am pretty satisfied with the service.

Never been charged further costs under fair policy usage and I use it a lot to download poster quality graphics presumably like most people on here.

If I were to switch again it would probably only ever be with BT.

The reason I say this is because when I had my factory the phone lines were BT and our ISP was someone else. Whenever there was a problem with the internet each would blame the other and subsequently took a couple of days to sort out. With Virgin and BT it is their own cable so they can not effectively pass the buck. Not saying that other companies would but I just do not want to take the risk if I can avoid it.

Im also with plusnet and have been for the last 5-6 years, cant really fault them to be honest, unlimited downloads, cheap monthly bill and with 2 ps3's, 3 computers plus mobile phones,tablets and every thing else always connected and streaming its still bloody quick. I have looked around at different packages but like said above the advertised companies offer unlimited but really cap it at 40-60gb so you pay extra, A few people where i live have plusnet fiber optic broadband and say its very quick but i havnt looked into that yet

It certainly can be easier if everything's with BT Out of interest I was just looking at other 'unlimited' suppliers. Tesco came out cheapest but having searched many T&C pages I finally found a section that states they can set a fair usage policy to avoid abuse. Pretty typical but not so with BT now it appears.

The fibre must be brilliant...go get it! lol 60Gb is nothing when you have 2 kids watching YouTube I've been monitoring usage and YouTube is the biggest killer, nothing else comes close.
