Hello all,

This is only my second post on here. Since last time I have taken delivery of a mug sublimation press and Ricoh SG3110DN, with which I am very happy EXCEPT for when I'm attempting to transfer an image that is on a coloured background. The ink doesn't appear to be fully transferring to the mug (from the base of the mug to approximately 2cm upwards of this point) leaving a faded effect along almost the entire length of one side. Is this due to the clamp being too loose or could it be that there's a fault with the sleeve? If it helps I am using Tru-pix sublimation paper and have all the relevant software installed.
I'd very much appreciate some of your expert advice. Pleeeeeeease.

Many thanks in advance.

Dean

It might be best to have this thread moved to a different section, but from what you're describing I think the problem is pressure related. You need to clamp your mug more tightly as most mugs will bevel to an extent towards the base. This will ensure the mug blanket wraps the top/ bottom of the mug and may bend a little as it does so. Some members on here prefer to print within 2-3 mm of the top/ bottom of the mug to give it a framed appearance and this can look good.

also in this very cold weather make sure your mugs are at least at room temp, pop them base down on the radiator for a while before pressing, as the base is the thickest part so will be the coldest

Many thanks for the advice and it would seem that both replies were on the mark. Well done you two.

I have since been reading up on all sorts of potential obstacles and hope that I too, will soon be a jedi.

Thanks again.
