I posted on this subject many moons ago to see what you all thought, at the time I do remember my payment processing method was actually a really good deal. As Bira members we get great rates when processing card payments.

(pretty sure someone did a spreadsheet on this too which was very impressive so I must search for it)

My business is PCI compliant itself, my website was storing customer card details on the secure server for me to log in, collect the details and process them through my terminal in the shop. This was via Safe2Pay/ Freestart.

Safe2pay will unfortunately no longer be in use as of the end of Feb and Freestart recommend the following:-
sagepay
worldpay
Paypal
Cardsave

Any comments regarding any of these companies would be much appreciated.

Where I have my own workshop I rent out space to tenants. One of them is a small beauty treatment business and she uses Cardsave. I saw on her machine the website is www.Cardsave.net.

Until recently (and for many years) I used Streamline but with their monthly fee plus Sagepay for the internet site it added up to £50 a month and having reduced my businesses to part-time as approaching semi-retirement I decided not to keep lining their pockets. I use the cro*ks (sorry, nice people) at PayPal.

The banks really don't have a clue. Paypal are gradually taking away their business and they haven't introduced a system where you use your email and a password. This would add competition and get PayPal to lower their fees. If they increase them any more they might turn out to be more expensive than Wonga !!!

Or we could wait for the government to do something to help small businesses, who are the backbone of this country (for those of you under 21 it could even happen in your lifetime)!

That's right Laura, I have 3 card machines in the shop but the way my site works I will have to start using one of the companies mentioned in my previous post. Rather than just choosing the cheapest way to process a payment I am trying to find some sort of feedback. Currently waiting for some call backs from a few.
