Hi
New to the forum so sorry if I ask something lame.

I see a lot of S22 printers with 4 inks for sale. I do have a Epson R300, six inks, thats doing nothing. Can i use the r300 and would it be better than the s22? Also i read on this forum you need a icc. Where would I get this icc profile? Many thanks.

Hi! R300 would be better then s22. Any printer would be better really :)
But R300 will cost you loads on ink as there are 2 extra colors to purchase. Worth to mention tha none of this printers are supported and if anything goes wrong then help will be limited.

regards

PAul

PS. welcome on forum ;)

Ok getting a bit confused. Seen Ricoh printers cheap but the ink is £60 a colour. Isnt it better to buy a ltr of ink for a cis with an epson at £100 a colour? Is it very hard to set a icc up for a printer?

icc is not hard to set at all.

but ricoh and epson is two different options.
Ricoh is a gel printer. it does not use same sublimation inks like epsons ;)

It just appears to my newbie thinking that the cis ink system must work out cheaper than ricoh.

If I was going to buy a new printer I think I would buy an Epson WP-4015DN. It's a supported printer & the cartridges hold more than a CISS.

...but the ink cost for the Epson 4015 is even more expensive per ml than the Ricoh.

Are you sure Martin?

I've just been looking & the ink for the Ricoh SG3110DN works out at £1.58 per ml for black & £1.65 per ml for the colours. The Ricoh holds only 42ml for the black cartridge & 29ml for the colour cartridge which in total is just 129 ml of ink. The cost of 4 ink cartridges for the Ricoh is £210.

The Epson WP-4015DN if you use Artaunum ink costs 48p per ml for all 4 colours. The Epson holds 120ml per refillable cartridge which is a total of 480ml of ink. The cost of all 4 cartridges for the Epson is £230.40.

So, if you bought the Epson you would get another 351ml of ink for just an extra £30.40.
