Hi all, firstly I am new to sublimation and I am pleased with the results, I just need to develop my technique. My problem is that the quality image on the screen is way better than the printed version. I think it might be something to do with the paper? Here are the images

What printer, press, paper times ect are you using?

I bought a 5 in 1 pixmax heat press and I'm using an Epson S22 printer with ciss I'm following the instructions for the heat press which they recommend which is 2mins at 310 degrees (fast press) but the image on the transfer paper isn't fantastic, I notice the dye bleeds slightly on the paper and a lot is absorbed. (the paper is the right way around, but I think its the cheapest they could find to keep costs down)

Quality paper is the only 'cost effective' way to go. Cheap paper is IMO a waste of time, money and stock.

I have ordered some high quality sublimation paper but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm just anxious to get all set up and working properly. I also understand now that its not the best printer to use (reading some other posts) I just thought that if I share the pics I might get someone telling me I'm doing it wrong and need to do it another way. I'm open to constructive criticism

It looks like the texture of the paper has sublimated too?

well you have started to do the right thing - reading the forum, you will see on reading that the problems you are having can be overcome, for epson a lot of people use 180deg and 180min, so your time may be a little short, also as you will read on the forum, this time of year mugs can benefit from being sat on the radiator for a while, esp if they have been on the floor or out in the shed, as they will be very cold. keep reading and the mugs will keep improving, but as others have said - cheap paper - cheap results

Hi dave,
Have you checked the resolution of the image you are using?
I always use a minimum of 300dpi.
The resolution of a PC screen is normally 96dpi (Some are 72dpi) If the resolution is low, the image will look good on the screen but not in print.
Worth a thought.

Thanks for the help. I have sorted it out and I am happy with the result. I took all of your info and made changes and it worked. The biggest change was poor quality paper!

I could tell the difference as soon as the image came from the printer.
