OK, so someone asked me last week if I could embroider their company name on some shirts.

I said I could, however, did they want to source the shirts as they wanted it rather quickly (for NYE).

They came back with some black shirts from Primark for a fiver each. These look great, particularly for DJing. Not for me as I'm stubborn about 100% or close to Cotton shirts.

They embroidered rather nicely with no breakages.

So I've gone out for a walk yesterday and found myself in a pub with the missus. It's an upmarket "Foody" pub and the staff wear all black with white aprons. It made me wonder.... if I could buy the shirts in wholesale (and having worked in the industry a long time ago, they need to be heavy duty), I could probably sell and embroider them for not much more than retail price.

So, has anyone done this before and do you have a shirt supplier?

work shirts from wholesaler will cost you quite a bit more than the primark ones you mentioned.
Premier do good work stuff, shirts from about £8 + vat - so you will need to sell for about £20 ?

Ralawise & BTC Activewear are probably the two biggest.

Kustom Kit seems to be the industry standard for uniforms although both of the above stock catering grade garments as well.

A company called Absolute Apparel do waist aprons with pocket for around £2 each inc vat no min order but you would have to check the postage as not sure what it would be for small quantities, i do know its free for orders over £100 ex vat, there also good for allot of other clothes :)

Cheers guys. Gives me somewhere to start.

Like I said, the Primark ones are rather cheap and cheerful. Great for DJs or people who aren't particularly active.

I think if you were selling them to someone in the catering or pub trade, they would need to be thick cotton and these would come at a price.
