Just what we all need :frown:
Almost 1,000 postal engineers and cleaners are set to strike across the country this Friday, December 21, which could delay deliveries of Christmas cards and online gift purchases.
Postmen and postwomen are not striking, but it is thought some of them may not cross picket lines.
The union members who clean, maintain and repair Royal Mail premises have voted 91 per cent in favour of strike action.

I suppose it will depend on how many posties dont cross the picket line, if most dont then thats a lot of prezzies held up in the system.

Years ago your local Postman (or Postwoman) was a highly respected member of the community. Going back to pre-WWII I am told you could post a letter in the morning and it was delivered the same day. Some people even sent them to invite people for tea - the SAME DAY! Nowadays, with all the advances in technology it takes up to a week.
In my opinion it has been the top executive management of the Royal Mail who have undermined the business. Members of the public seem to care more about the postpeople than top management. Remember - these are the people who wanted to change the name of the business to Insignia from Royal Mail!!! And now they want to sell it to an overseas investment trust.
I would like to see trade unions who are sitting on a huge pile of cash put their money where their mouth is and buy the majority stakeholding in Royal Mail so their members own the business they work for!
If I worked for them I would be tempted to strike too!
Happy Christmas!!!!!

In my town, where i leave in Poland people was asked what profession they respect most?!
1st was fire engineer
2nd was postman.
I think this is something to do that in older days post man use to bring your retire money etc

so they was highly expected and most of the time never fail!
