I am not into the social networking arenas, either Facebook or Twitter.

Why oh why does one of the suppliers insist on putting any special offers through these areas rather than on this forum.

Yes I'm in one of those moods this am. Neck & Shoulder giving me jip again.

I kind of agree, but FB and the likes make it easier to market items quickly and there are more potential customers through FB than this site can offer.

The problem I have with using things like FB for offers is that I would either need to have two FB accounts or my friends etc would know my business which I would not want.

in short its a marketing exercise if you liek a suppliers facebook page then all people in your facebook friends list see this like and so it starts an advertising cascade you like it your friend likes it their friend likes it and so on so thats the answer really its to get more people to see and add the facebook page to their facebook account

I'm with Sharon. I had to set an email 'rule' to delete all incoming emails from facebook. Its no more than a badly designed nuisance for nerds.

That makes sense but surely some of your fb friends must know ?

My friends think I am an international spy and that Skyfall is actually my autobiography LOL

In reality, they do know, its not something I am desperate to hide but I prefer to keep each one seperate. It would also mean that I would have to change all the security settings etc as I am friends with people who I know will tell me ex business partner scum if there is something on there that may interest him. In actual fact, 9 out of the 10 previous posts on FB have been bragging about how well I am doing just to annoy him!!! (contacted all my other friends to explain this first though)

Also, FB is very clever (in my opinion) so for example if I "like" Harrods my friends will see an advert that says "Simon likes Harrods, why not join him" or words to that effect. Essentially it looks like I am endorsing Harrods. While I would not have a problem in endorsing companies that I have "Liked" I am not sure if my friends need to see them. its not something I am particularly worried about just prefer to keep seperate if I can.

Social networking is a very useful marketing tool which I am now finding out. I have just spent several sessions with a social networking expert & he really has opened my eyes to how good things like Facebook can be for your business. My weekly reach is around 1,000 people who are all potential customers. Also I can now also reach their friends & that figure is now 89,156. I can then direct these people to my website to look at my products where they can then buy from me. In fact since I set up my Facebook Business page most of my sales go to people abroad so, you could say Facebook has made my business go global.

There are so many things you can find out about your business & products using Facebook & also what your customers like & want. Some of the tricks are so simple to do to grab people's attention worldwide.

Because our supplier section has been removed by the admin so we can't advertise the offers we have on the DSF! Simples.
This unfortunately means some DSF members may miss out, but thems the rules (unless someone tells me differently).

As you are aware Martin, your DSF section was removed in accordance with our agreement over the discount scheme you ran and chose to close. If you would like your section set up again you know the terms for this and I will gladly discuss this with you but just to be clear to members, your section wasn't removed it is not currently visible and can be restored at any time if BMS wish to follow other Suppliers an pay for this section.
