Well a quick google search puts the original cartridges (1 black + 1 coloured) at around £50 (inc vat) and remanufactured at around £15 a set. However at around £100 there are now a number of other new printers that do A3. Worth searching Brother MFC-J5910DW (available on viking and amazon below £100 new)
This was posted as a reply to the initial question as I thought it was a question about non-sublimation printers. TO AVOID CONFUSION THIS PRINTER IS NOT SUITABLE FOR SUBLIMATION.

Hi Ian,
I'm sorry to say that you cannot use any HP printer for dye sublimation as they don't have the Piezo print head technology that you need for dye sublimation ink.
The only printers that can be used are Epson, Ricoh & Brother printers & only certain models of Epson's & Ricoh's are supported by Sawgrass who manufactures the ink for desk top models.
The Epson B1100 is ideal & is a supported printer but, this has now been replaced with the Epson Photo 1500. May I suggest you have a look at this link to BMS which shows the printers that can be used & are supported for dye sublimation use

Just one word of caution, I would stay away from the unsupported Brother printers until you have built up enough experience.

You can buy bulk ink for any Epson HOWEVER if you are going to go the supported route then you need a system that sawgrass supports with a CISS or cartridges. There really is no simple cheap solution to dye sublimation printing and if you are a beginner then buying a decent supported printer will make life easier. I would suggest you look at a Ricoh printer with sublimation cartridges as this is without doubt the easiest method of getting good results with least frustration.

Well that depends on whether you require A4 or A3 size printouts. If cost is an issue then start out with A4 as it can do most jobs like mugs/mosemats/cases etc

Remember this price includes sublimation cartridges
