Hi all

I have been asked to use the 3 lions logo on a design, I know the English football 3 lions logo is copyrighted by Umbro (don't ask me how lol), but not sure if this one is or not?. I'm presuming not as I understand it's Richard the 1st crest, can anyone clarify this please

Cheers

Dave

The arms on the second Great Seal of King Richard I, used by his successors until 1340: three golden lions passant guardant, on a red field.

So that answers whose crest it is and I would therefore think it was fine to use (unless the Royal Family has some regulatory restriction)

Also the England cricket teams logo is 3 lions albeit with a crown - so those 3 lions do get about a bit it seems.

The Dorset coat of arms has three red lions with a fleur de lys at the bottom. The lions on the England badge are technically leopards according to heraldic positioning.

Scotty is correct, they are leopards, it was a question on QI recently when Frank Skinner was there :-)

Well useful information but never heard of Richard the Leopard heart lol

Pretty sure he thought they were lions on his crest
