Hello everybody..

Ok i have been asked by my company that i work for to do some mugs for an award ceremony that we are in and the design has a black background.

What i want to know is what are the best settings to get Blacks looking JET Black.

I am using a coral 4 mugpress and i heat the mugpress up to 180 with my chosen mug in.
I then switch the mugs for the one with the design stuck to it and wait untill the temp gets back up to 180 again.
When temp reaches 180 i cook for 180 seconds.

I guess what i am wanting to know is. Is there anything i can change to try get my blacks looking JET Black.

Maybe something within photoshop or change settings for heat and time.

They look JET BLACK on text and things like that but when its a full background it looks slightly off.

My ICC profile is correct for my printer and was made by Paul and i must say i am very impressed with the difference his profile has made to my colours.

i dont know if this will make any diference on your mug press but it does on my.
set it to 185C when tem is reached place your mug with transfer on. and start timing immediately foe 195sec.

Ok paul will give that a go. Just so that i am clear as soon as i put the mug in the press with design on i start the timer and dont wait for it to get to temp before i start countdown.

yes. you will justify temp drop with longer pressing time. dont worry if press wont back to higher temp

It might also be worth checking which colours your printer uses to print black on an item. With CMYK cartridges you might expect black to be printed as 100% K but infact it is often printed as a mixture of more than one cartridge to get a better black. In photoshop a number of sites have found the following to give a blacker black C 75%, M 68%, Y 67%, K 90%. So if your black is a tad grey then give this a shot.

WTR that was way over my head. Lol

I think its me just being too much of a perfectionist i guess. When i look at the mug in a lit room. Ie not normal daylight they look like they are black with a slight tinge of red. But thinking about this im starting to think that is probably normal.


Quick question of topic. How long do printouts last.
Ie. If i print of 10 designs, how long will they last before i cant press them onto a mug. Lol
