I sure do have a weird epson s22 printer. After not being able to find a profile for the mugs, i managed to get the colours to print out spot on with little effort (all i needed to change was the brightness). i did a few mugs and the images on the mugs was exactly the same as on the screen and i was very impressed. On the one mug i eventually got very faint lines in the image so i ran the built in epson head cleaner thing. I did the same image again and the lines have gone but at a cost. theres now too much red in the printouts. faces are dark pink instead of there normal shade of pink and red areas are too dark. this wasnt the case before i cleaned the heads. ive reinstalled the printer, printed on another computer, topped the ink back up, changed the printer settings and colour sliders etc, and it wont even make a difference. dont tell me i need a profile because i dont. images were printing out perfectly and mugs were looking fantastic until i ran the head cleaner thing. no matter how much i change settings now the colours in the printouts and on the mugs are always the same with too much red. do i need a new printer and was cleaning the heads a naughty thing to do? please help me get back to perfect printouts like before.

'dont tell me i need a profile because i dont'

By adjusting some of the settings may not of been enough,
by getting a profile from paul you could eliminate this option and get near perfect results,

Others will reply soon, but an image would help with the problem

well if you dont need a profile you're the first ever !,
you say the prints were perfect before the head clean aprt from thin lines, not meaning to sound condersending but they wernt perfect if they had thin lines! the thin lines you describe sound pretty much like what is called banding this is where the printer is giveing a less than perfect print did you perform a nozzle check before the clean? im gusssing that the banding was as a result of one colour either not printing or not printing well enough where by a head clean resloves this (hopefully) . have you tried a nozzle check since the head clean is every thing as it should be? did you try a nozzle check when setting the printer if not how do you know it was printing correctly in the first place. Top say you dont need a profile is like saying my car wont go but dont tell me ai need fuel cause i dont . you do need a profile even if you tinker and alter the settings yourself you are in effect creating a profile have you saved and named these settings? are you using the same settings now the head clean is complete? theres a lot of questions there you need to answer before anyone can give you more indepth help good luck

You need a colour profile for anything that you print & you was told this a few weeks ago. Paul offered to help you with an ICC profile too. You had lots of advice from people who have been in this business for a lot of years who know what they are doing but, you ignore them. Until you get an ICC profile you are going to be having problems like this over & over again.

I'm sorry to be so harsh but, there tends to be a lot of so called experts who have just started in this business on this forum right now who know it all. Please listen & take note from the advice the experts give you freely & then you won't have problems such as this. Contact Paul & ask him to make you an ICC profile for your printer which will solve your problems.

Well I know that people are keen to see some results and that to many an ICC profile can be seen as an extra avoidable expense. However IanM is right in saying that to get consistent results across all you images you will need an ICC profile and Paul is your man and does from what people say on here a quality job for a good price.

I may suprise you but you DO need a profile. If you have a cast of red in your photos and want to reduce some by playing with slides in color options please dont forget that you changing other colors too that ise red to mix with other colors.

And another thing is... You siad you colors was exactly as on the screen... Well.. You must have some amazing s22 or verry bad monitor :-)

There is no such a thing like 100% match. As monitors can produce millons of colors. Your ink aint...

Paul's custom ICC service is very good, and a very good price considering the cost of the equipment he uses to create them, along with his expertise in operating it. Assuming you've gone the non-Sawgrass inks route to save some money, even with the added expense of a custom profile, your initial outlay will still be a lot less than buying a set of Sawgrass inks. It really is a minimal extra set-up cost, compared to the hassell of trying to adjust each image you have manually - how many images do you have to print over the next year? How much time does it take you to manually adjust the colours? How much is your time worth that spending £20 to eliminate this extra work is not a wise investment?

We'll help you all we can on the forum but please remember that using third party inks that are not recognised by Sawgrass is against the patent that is in place for small format printers and as such we cannot discuss on this forum, thank you.

It's worth bearing in mind when you set up a new system, the support you get from a recognised supplier/backup is invaluable.

Originally printouts were fine and acceptable with no lines or banding at all. then after 10 or so mugs the lines appeared and thats what made me clean the heads. dont understand why after cleaning the heads the printer wanted to be so stroppy. It also started to not detect the ink cartridges. Ive had this trouble before and sorted it by reinstalling the printer. ive reinstalled the printer again but no change. all the other colours appear great its just red and pink parts. the printer has been crappy since day 1 with not detecting ink and the status monitor for the inks constantly coming up that theres an error and it needs to close so ill get me a new printer i think.
