hi Guys
I am looking at getting 2 printers for my printing business. and I have decided I will be having one printer for pigment ink which will be used for printing transfers for dark garments. and another printer for sublimation ink.
My first purchase will be the transfer printer (dark) and I have decided to go for the Epson 1500W. Also decided to use Yolo transfer paper.
Ink wise i have been looking at the following:
http://www.cityinkexpress.co.uk/ink-pro ... igment-ink
What i am not sure of is where to purchase the CISS for this printer, because all i see is the Epson 1400. and knowing the 1500W is the newer version I think I would go for this. if anyone can point me in the right direction or opinions and advice are most appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan. I've just started using a 1500W this week. So far so good and I'm quit impressed with it. I'm using refil carts as the CIS isn't currently available with City Ink who I prefer to use for such things. The refil carts are the same as the 1400 but for some reason the 1400 CIS doesn't work with the 1500W.
I use City Ink refil kits for my Canon and an Epson D120 and the ink always works very well.

Yes, I saw that as well...which is confusing. I did ask them about it and they confirmed that they had no CIS for the 1500 yet. Maybe they'll only sell as part of a package? Surely not.

Aren't the cartridge codes the same for the 1400 and the 1500?

Yes, they are but City Ink and another supplier I spoke to tell me that the CIS are different to the refil carts. Couldn't figure that one out myself, surely the carts are the same in the CIS and refil carts?
Quote from City Ink "The refillables are ok but the ciss needs a different version of chip which we don’t have yet im afraid"

If the cartridge that fits in the 1400 works in the 1500 (and visa versa) then the CISS surely has to be the same. If not then I'd like to know the reasons

BigJ, design is updated a little and paper handling is said to be better, obviously wireless which works a treat.
Ian, that CIS is pre-filled, I wanted one of the City Ink units as they're the same as the Sawgrass ones, much better quality. As Martin mentioned, there should be no reason why the 1400 CIS wouldn't work but not cheap enough to have a punt with, especially when the supplier says it deffo won't work. I can't see why the chip would be different on a CIS to normal refil carts but I did get a very blunt NO from them!
