Today was a first,
someone wanted 3 images on something and they didn't fit the template so I chopped and re-sized (in perspective) the images so they could - whilst they were there.
But - it wasn't what they liked and asked if I could S-T-R-E-T-C-H the images to fit ........
I said that it would look terrible and it did, rather amature to be honest and I wasn't happy with the way it looked - they said they like it and they want to pay ................. so I did it, but I'm not happy!
So - for debate, is the customer always right - even if it looks terrible and there's a risk of someone saying 'urghhh - where did you get that from' ?

It's a tricky one

I feel the same when a customer sends me a 5kb photo taken on their 20 year old Nokia phone. Theirs only so much you can do is 't there?
I guess if the customer was happy then yes, they're right...but that doesn't make it right! My problem with this (and my above comment) is if they show the item to other people who immediately question the quality

Exactly Justin - it's a catch 22, do you turn down a job because you're proud and lose money in the till - or risk the case of lost business that you'll never know from someone who looked at the item, asked where they got it and think that (our) work is 'sub-standard' .......
..... no answer really!

Depends on the job and customer IMO.....I get some silly little files people want blown up to banner size sometimes and the answer is always 'I can do it but it will look awful' and explain why.....it usually works and either a bigger file is supplied or I lose the job which in all honesty is what I would rather happen than put out something that is obviously crap.
If it's a one off for Grannys birthday mug then I might but if it's for something that is likely to be seen by a bigger audience then I would think twice.

but - what if money was no object and the customer was willing to pay 'more' even though the finished product would look terrible?
This what I mean, everyone has a different opinion and by turning it down you could be made out to be 'rather fussy' and lose business that way as well (lol).
Like I said - I don't 'think' there's any particular right answer and both has it's pitfalls ................... in my opinion

LOL...if money was no object to the customer I'd do them a couple of dozen or so crap mugs for about £200,000 and retire.....:rolleyes:

i have kept a stretched image on a mug that a customer insisted on, and then rejected for a better one, and i show it to people, along with a duplicate of the mug they ended up with, often helps "persuade" people.
as for stretched images, seeing the way some people have their TV's set up image size wise, perhaps they are mosre used to seeing odd shaped people

I tell them that it will look awful and that I charge extra for working with sub standard images, usually does the trick.
