I think we've discussed this before if anyone can remember when and where!

Not printed metal sheet in a while but noticed a mottled effect visible when you tip to one side. I'm printing paper up, around 190c for 50/60 secs. Can metal be printed paper down?

You can print onto the back of the metal so having it face down onto the print. Silver can have a slightly lower temp than white I find. The metal obviously transfers heat quickly so it's easy to overcook the coating which you then get the slight mottling effect. 50 secs should be fine but you might want to test heat slightly lower if you still struggle.

Conde have a video on printing metal... say there are problems with moisture in the metal, so to preheat it a bit to get the moisture out, then print face up/paper down, with light pressure, avoiding too much pressure/bending of the metal (IIRC ... have a search for their video)

we print a lot of badges on metal and echo others in paper down, light pressure - we use 180C (Ricoh) for 50 secs and product results are consistent.

Just watched the Conde video, much emphasis on light pressure :-) I reckon that was my problem, it appeared to be light but not enough.

Cheers guys!
