dont use Excel......
anything else i can use to keep tabs on stock - in/out/running totals ect.

something with some sort of ready made templates i can edit.

or is it just a case of....learn Excel and get on with it :rolleyes:

Would Excel do what you need? Are you just looking for an alternative or something a little different? There are the open source alternatives, OpenOffice etc. Whilst some of these are excellent I always seem to come back to Excel but it depends what you need it to do.

something EASY lol........have openoffice just now justin....not used it yet tho.....just downloaded it last wk..does it have ready made templates i can use/edit for stock control ect ?

adminsoft accounts in a free to use accounting package and it does have some stock control with it, i still ufortunaley favour the old fashioned way, and every box of stock has a sheet on it with the total, and i cross off what i take out of the box, so i can (normally i do make errors sometimes) see what i need at a glance around the workshop.

I would like to see my stock, but know i CANNOT BE AR**ED to enter every item i sell, easier to look at the shelf and see if it is full or empty .....
how much detail does it have to provide ? - every sheet of media/mug ? - every meter of vinyl ?
I know stock is tied up working capital, but often the economic order quantity is a function of supplier minumum order and carrage costs plus how often you can be bothered to order. Some things like badge blanks I buy a years worth at a time, others like laser transfere i order at least every month so my stock level is much less.
mugs - I buy a pallet (1000) at a time because price/discount is less than the interest i can earn or pay on the capital involved.
How do you make stock work for you?

never keep details of vinyl - hence some "oh shit" moments, but the bigger items - clothing, i find the old way is the best way - laminated wipe clean sheets to add stock on and take off, and just hang infront of the shelves

vinyl is easy to keep track of.......Big roll equals lots. Small roll equals not much so maybe time to reorder. Clothing even easier.......no stock and order as required.........Simples.
